Audi Major League
Golf Invitational A Great Success!

The Second Annual two-day golf event was kicked off on Friday, October 29, with a celebrity golf tournament at the Grayhawk Resort. Such names as this year's Honorary Chairman and 1999 Hall of Fame inductee, Robin Yount and Hall of Fame’s Harmon Killebrew, as well as some current-day players headed by 1999 All-Stars Matt Williams and Jay Bell of the Arizona Diamondbacks, participated. Other attendees included Ken Griffey Jr. and last year’s Master of Ceremonies, Bob Uecker.

Later in the day, Joe Garagiola Sr. was Master of Ceremonies over a dinner-auction held at the beautiful Monterra's Restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona to help raise monies for PBATS’ support of various charities and scholarships like, the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, Baseball Assistance Team and The PBATS Education Fund.

On Saturday, October 30, a total of 29 fivesomes competed in another sensational tournament. The former Boston Red Sox All-Star, now coach, Jim Rice's group won Saturday's event. Jay Bell's group, made up in part by PBATS’ President Kent Biggerstaff, was one shot off the lead, finishing 2nd, and Dale Sveum's colorful group of John Adam, Roger Caplinger, Rick Smith, and Brad Henderson finished 2 strokes off the lead and ended up in third place.

After this year, we can hardly wait till next year’s tournament!

We at PBATS would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone that helped make this year’s event the success that it was, in particular to Audi, our name sponsor, along with all the Celebrities that gave freely of their time, as well as to the great support we received from Team Scotti, Delta Airlines, Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic, Gatorade, Wesley's Jewelers, Oakley, Scherring Plough Pharmaceuticals, New Era, Sweat It Out and Talking Rain Beverage Company.

Many thanks to all of you! Your generous donations were greatly appreciated!
